3.5 starsUnique! I loved the premise of women ruling the post-apocalyptic future and the monks of the Brotherhood dedicating their lives to serving the Goddess in all her incarnations (i.e. women). But, I hated to see how far the women of this time had taken that power and corrupted it, making men little more than servants to do their bidding. Quite a role reversal and quite sad. Chanyn, on the other hand, was the Goddess personified, at least to me. Self-sacrificing but strong of spirit with an inner moral compass that led her to see into a person and recognize their goodness or see the rot that permeated their soul, she could also be quite vulnerable. She was innocence and strong sensuality that drew first Dain to her then the monk who was charged with educating her and her bondmates in the sexual gratification of women. Although he resisted, Khial was not unaffected by Chanyn and found himself falling under her spell too. Although I felt the story could have gone deeper and explored and explained more about the era and the emotions of its people, I enjoyed "The Pleasure Hound" and was pleasantly surprised that it was more than just a steamy read.

The triangles of love and caring are a wonderful surprise and the twist and turns to get to the end keeps the pages turning.
Love this story set in a dystopian future reminiscent of MZB's Ruins of Isis...but better. Absolutely loved the monk in the story! Well written characters. Will definitely read part two!
Thus series is so hottest, it will scorch the paint off the walls! Far be it for me to judge but have mercy, I wish we had pleasure hounds!
This book took me by surprise. I truly enjoyed it. I liked the story and the setting. The writing was done really well. The book is a love story and I really loved it. I'd recommend this to my reader friends. Don't pass this up!
Ahhhh...an intellectual writer. Strife, yearning, tenderness, steam, hope, HEA-and a little Zen= a VERY satisfying read. Not your typical ménage, either. Post-apocalyptic Earth's matriarchal society is very different now as sweet Lord Dain, moody musical Khial and almost-feral, innocent Chanyn come tentatively together with a lot of help from a well trained 'Pleasure Hound'.
Yes please, Ines, give us more.

This is one of those books that I was really hesitant to read, as apocalypse stories don't really interest me. Some I read because of the author, or it sounds really cool. This book, just kept being me to read it, and I kept putting it aside until, finally today. Once I began the first chapter, I was hooked and read this in one sitting. If you've been on the fence about this book, as I have, I'm begging you to pick it up and read it. It's that amazing!!!
I really enjoyed this book!
I found that the story had a really good balance of emotion, excitement, and sensuality. I found the heroine to be believable; equal parts strong and vulnerable. There were no lags in the story or sequences where I rolled my eyes or worked my neck. I smiled the entire time that I read this book.
**There is male/male love scenes in this book, that does not bother me at all. If you are bothered by these types of scenes, then do not read this story (though, you will be missing out.)
